What is the role of media is it to make news or report it?  Journalism and its definition has been turned on it head.  There is no model in today’s time, it has gone “rouge” .  Journalism schools have traditionally taught  to report  the  Who, What When, Where and How.  That is the basic format of a hard news story.  Now we see opinion inserted into hard news as well as commentary.  On cable news we see  manufactured news. They don’t merely report that John Smith was shot, but they also report on ” Why did  the President not  have something in place to stop it”?  It is “Opportunity Smear Journalism.  Sensationalism that use to be reserved for the supermarket tabloids has now gone main stream.

The trouble is we are gullible and accept the ‘chatter as gospel.  News people must hold the upmost standard as ethics and this has increasingly been lost .  It is a shame where journalism has evolved.   All of us must learn to take what the media says with a ‘grain of salt”.

President Obama conducted the first town hall internet meeting .  The first meeting of it’s kind in the history of the internet.  This unprecedented grass roots effort is one that is needed in doing the critical work that will lead to our economic recovery.  It is a slow and tedious process, but the constant high tech communications will go a long way in opening the lines of communications  from the people to the White House these are important times hen we will need to focus on areas that will make a difference.

There will be a little trial and error involved in this process.  But it is a time when we willl need to move forward with bold ideas and risk taking in order to accomplish our economy goal. These are indeed the focus  that we will need to ursue as a nation.  Obama’s idea of bringing diverse segments of the population together to solve problems.  It is a way for President Obama to get a guage of what the American people are thinking.

Make no mistake the President has his work cut out for him and this focus will need to continue in order to to move from our negative economic condition.  Issues centered around Education, Mortgage Issues, Health care and a host of domestic issue that have threaten to undermine our progress economically.  President Obama identified the problem of declining equity in homes as the root of the mortgage crises.

Questions about outsourcing were asked.  Obama says that we cannot have an economy thst relies a low skilled and low pay wages.  There will always be a country willing to do the same work for lesss. President Obama basically proposed that we retrain workers  to work in higher skilled occupaction in green job, high tech job, that will have more of an opprotunity to put Americans Bacl to work.In order for this to happen we will need to  put more resorces and money into training and education. Obma urged patience and persistent; warning that there will be more job losses.

President Obama  said Universal heath care “is our goal”.  Obama says that  he is not an advocate of scraping the current system.  He would like to transistion in to a new system that includes a number of initiatives, but more importantly transition to a universal health care system.

President Obama pledged to pull out most  American troops by August 2010, leaving 50,000 behind in a  support and training initiatives.   This was an historic speech made at Fort Lejeune, North Carolina.  View details of the speech.

General Motors  is set to ask for even more stimulus  money and may be poised to lay off an additional 47,000 people if they do not get it. Weigh in on how you feel about this after  you read this article.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,I’m James. I’m a MoveOn member, dad to two teenagers, and, until recently, I had a pretty good job in construction. But the company I worked for lost a lot of projects when the economy tanked, and I got laid off, without much notice.

So I wanted to write to ask for your help. Not help for me, but for all the folks who are out of a job or otherwise struggling in this recession. Let me explain.

But what really gets me is that not a single Republican voted for it, despite all the efforts by President Obama to reach across the aisle. If the same thing happens in the Senate, it won’t pass. But millions of families like mine need it to pass—it could put me, my former coworkers, and millions of other Americans back to work—and turn this economy around.

A new stimulus might mean a new job for me—weatherizing homes or constructing green affordable housing. It’d give my kids’ school some much needed funding. And it could mean real investments in mass transportation to ease traffic and cut emissions.

This is a big moment, both for my family and for families around the country. If thousands of us act, we can get these swing senators to change their votes. But we’ll need to do it fast—the vote could come as early as next week. I hope you can help out.

President  Barack Obama completed his first week, by dismantling many of President George Bush Policies that he put in place. He Culminated the week with a 240-188 victory in the House in favor of the Economic Stimulus package, which paved the way for Senate debate.  This is a crucial bill that will determine the direction that we take in 2009 and beyond More

Sprint  announced layoffs of over 8,000 workers today across the board and across the country.   Sprint  one of the big three wireless companies continues to real from bad business decisions and bad customer service. The layoffs are the latest  result in the in Sprint’s attempts to  control the  business landscape and satisfy shareholders. Will it work?  It it will be difficult.
